The Raspberry Pi, everyone’s favourite little project board, is getting a big upgrade.

The new version, dubbed the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B+, is doubling up on processing power and memory. It now features a quad-core ARMv7 processor running at 900mhz, as well as 1GB of RAM.

The organization notes that it’s about six times faster than the original. That should provide plenty of horsepower for your retro gaming needs. Furthermore, it’s completely available with the original Pi’s mod kits.

Microsoft has also announced that Windows 10 will be available free of charge to Raspberry Pi 2 owners. Likely to sway potential makers away from Linux, which is currently the dominant OS for the devices.

It’s currently for sale at the same low price of $35. We’re just disappointed that they didn’t go with the more obvious name, 2PiR.
